The “Breakwater Light” painting by Master Artist J. Charles captures the early morning fog on lake Champlain in Burlington, Vermont. The moon can be seen slowly setting behind the distant White Mountains.
Built in 1857, the wooden lighthouse was placed at the end of the breakwater. In 1925 the lower wooden structure was replace with steel capable of resisting catastrophic ice forces in excess of 400 pounds per square inch.
